From the Brennero road, to the north of Bolzano, turn right onto to the panoramic road that goes above the entire Tires – Tiers valley; at the top, turn left (signposted) and arrive at the Tschaminschwaige trattoria (1,150 m, car-park, Casa del Parco Naturale). On path n.3, climb up along the entire Val Ciamin, then turn right onto path 3A, clamber up the steep slope until the Bergam-Grasleitenhütte haven (2,129 m, 3 hours; overnight stay is recommended). Carry on across an impressive valley where you will turn right, then plod along the steep scree until the passo del Principe (2,600 m, 1:30 hours, a stop for refreshments). Go to the beginning of the via ferrata, equipped with many steel ropes that leads you into a mountain groove and ledge. When it stops go down the metal steps, and with a short but exposed passage turn onto the continuation of the ledge. Turn left onto the bigger and more spacious ledge that goes across the whole western side. At the end turn right towards 1st degree rocks to then join the northern ridge that with a careful step will lead you to the cross of the summit (3,004 m; 2 hours from the passo). Go back along the climbing path.
Expert Alpinists can complete a fantastic trip, descending from the summit towards the eastern side, on another exposed via ferrata (I degree). At the bottom you need to then climb back up towards passo d’Antermoia.
