Directions
Climb: From the top of the lift, go to the mountain hut by the pilgrim church; continue to the fork in the path, then go right and follow path no. 7 to the start of the climb (2240m).
Info: The climb takes you through the western face of the Kreuzkofel and is only partly secured (6 sections with steel ropes). The climb is easy to tackle in good conditions, but don't underestimate how exposed it is! Caution and sure-footedness are key, as there aren't any other ways to secure yourself. If there's rain, ice or snow, the climb should be avoided. After the Kreuzkofel col (2600m – approx. 2 hour climb) you reach some easier walking terrain and it takes around half an hour to arrive at the summit of the Sas dla Crusc (2907m). From the summit, descend to the fork in the path and follow the sign to the Sas dles Diesc. A steep path brings you to the start of the climb at 2960m. The 15 minute climb to the summit (3026m) is very exposed and over smooth rock in places.
Descent: You can either climb down the way you came or, from the Kreuzkofel col, you can go across Forcella de Medesc (2541m – marked as no. 12B) back to the starting point (this option takes longer – just walking terrain).
