Interesting ascension that offers everything a true alpinists looks for, although being very short. The upper part is very exposed but still exhausting. The access to the last ladder is overhanging and you have to be careful for loose rocks.
The upper part is steep and exposed and requires good arm strength. The lower part mostly consists of slabs you walk on with small steps. At the sign that warns from falling rocks you leave the path to continue via the debris to reach the access point.
The via ferrata itself is not very long, neither is the access. It is therefore suitable to be done in the early summer, late autumn or sunny and snow-free winter days. Some parts are exposed or overhanging. The steel rope is in very good conditions (2015).
Entire ascent: 270 m in altitude, 1 or 1.5 hours. Access: 70 m in altitude, 15 min. Via ferrata: 200 m in altitude
Descent: at the exit of the via ferrata you continue in the direction of the Unterpursteinhof and follow the access road for a short track. At the first way sign (n. 27a) you turn right and via the next path you come back to Sand in Taufers. Through the village you will come back to the starting point in Taufers (30 to 45 min.)
In the months of the summer you should be at the access point either early or late because it can be very hot.
