Easy via ferrata with moderate difficulties, especially if taken on the way down.

Approach: You follow the signs „Ferrata della Sasse” and walk more or less evenly via a forest road to the entrance point of the via ferrata at the end of the road (sign). Even though you can walk for another part, it is recommended to put on your climbing gear at the end of this road.

Characteristic and technical details: technically simple tour, also suited for rookies. The short steep part that lead down to the lake and the bridge is equipped with good helping steps. The tour is well suited for spring and fall and can also be done on nice winter days.

Descent: You follow the path in the direction of Asta (signs) and turn left onto the Sentiero dei Contrabandieri (sign). This once used to be a path for smuggling and it leads uphill and then evenly through the old-looking landscape back to the forest road. The path is simple to walk on and is equipped with steel ropes on the more difficult parts.

Target point

Third hairpin curve (many signs on the right)

Difficulties and general information: along the Ferrata delle Sasse you will only face one steep part, being a little more challenging. The rest of this hike is more like a secured hike with some steeper parts, on which you have to descent. The largest part of the hike leads through the forest above the Lake Idro, therefore the view of the lake is mostly blocked. Only on the final track you follow the rocky parts above the lake before you exit to the via ferrata.

Public transportation

From Riva del Garda to the Lake Ledro and into the village of Storo, located at the northern End of the Lake Idro. You turn to Baitone and follow the road to Bondone in direction of the Castello S. Giovanni. At the third hairpin curve (many signs on the right side) you can find some parking areas.
