Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal

The valley of the thousand adventures

Big open spaces and wide fields – the Tauferer Ahrntal – Valli di Tures e Aurinavalley welcomes you with open arms. Further ahead, all of a sudden the valleys close just like a canyon. At the bottom of the Ahrntal – Valle Aurina valley steep slopes extend until the Alpi dello Zillertal.

Tauferer Ahrntal – Valli di Tures e Aurina is home to very contrasting sceneries. The uneven alpine scenery is highly contrasted by the presence of glaciers, streams, rapids and waterfalls. Here, water rafting is the epitome of adventure. The frothing Reinbach waterfalls are fifty metres tall.
On the road that goes in direction of Reintal – Valle di Riva, on a hill you can catch sight of the old but imposing Burg Taufers – Castello di Tures that still gives a feeling of old medieval life. Another exciting stop is the Schaubergwerk Prettau – miniera-museo di Predoi, an old copper mine, where you can witness real life representations of the history of this mine.

About a kilometre away, hidden away in the rock, you can see the Klimastollen – Centro climatico di predoi, the climatic center where you can benefit from a beneficial microclimate especially if you suffer from respiratory problems, thanks to nearly 100% presence of humidity that forms in the tunnel.

When the copper mine was sadly shut down in 1893, the workers had to look for alternative ways of earning money, such as, the art of crochet and the carving of tree roots that have been passed down from generation to generation in the Tauferer Ahrntal – Valli di Tures e Aurina.
