Informationen zu South Tyrol Museum of Mining - Site Steinhaus

Mining has for centuries left its mark on the landscape and especially the people of the central Alpine region, and it continues to do so today. Special exhibitions in the former grain store at Steinhaus now give a face to these people and recount their stories.
This year’s exhibition, “Portraits of Mining Folk”, is a series of photographs of miners who worked in the mines of Ridnaun/Schneeberg and Prettau in recent times, featuring both their portraits and short biographies. Images, text, sound and a selection of personal belongings bring to life and give voice to the mining entrepreneurs, miners and also the women who worked in the mining industry.
