The breathtaking natural landscape and the immense cultural heritage of South Tyrol have always enchanted travelers.

The south side of the Alps is climatically favored by almost 300 days of sunshine a year. Even in the cold season this leads to pleasant sunny conditions on the mountain slopes and valleys. Towards the south of the region, temperatures are already pleasantly warm in the spring months, while further north there is still a cool winter atmosphere. Summer and autumn offer the best conditions for cycling, hiking and mountaineering, in a landscape between vineyards and the Dolomites that has no equal in terms of possibilities and beauty.

Nature in South Tyrol is as unique as it deserves to be protected. Seven natural parks - from the Stelvio Pass in Val Venosta to the Tre Cime in Alta Pusteria - and a national park make a valuable contribution to the conservation and research of the natural and cultural landscape. The value of this magnificent nature can be discovered through visitor centers, sports tours, as well as explorations.

Explore South Tyrol in a sporty way

On a network of 16,000 km of hiking trails, nothing is left to be desired. Whether you take a leisurely walk in the valley or climb on a mountain tour, you will always enjoy the magnificent view of the rugged peaks of the Dolomites.

South Tyrol also has a rich program for its cycling enthusiasts. Racing cyclists make their way up the winding roads along the mountain passes, mountain bikers tackle dirt paths, and the cycle paths of the valley are suitable for bike touring and families.

In the cold season, skiers and hikers can appreciate snow and ice. Many other options and activities are available for families and couples: from fun toboggan runs, ice skating rinks to romantic carriage rides in the woods, not forgetting saunas and spas to relax and take care of yourself.

A gastronomic offer that will not disappoint you

At the end of each tour in South Tyrol there is an alpine hut, a Schützhaus or a restaurant.

South Tyrolean cuisine is a unique fusion of traditional Alpine dishes and Mediterranean culinary culture. Numerous starred restaurants show off their skills, and excellent wines and spirits are skilfully paired with first, second and desserts. A special sense of quality and regionality can be appreciated everywhere.

Noteworthy are the South Tyrolean snack with speck and cheese or one of the many types of gnocchi. And as a conclusion? An apple strudel made with shortcrust pastry or the classic tiramisu`.
