Kronplatz

Even in Alto Adige-South Tyrol, which is famed for the broad palette of possibilities that it offers, the Kronplatz Holiday Region is unique in its variety. The possibilities of relaxation so close to nature are unlimited, as are the athletic opportunities. And anyone looking for cultural edification will strike it rich in this area like nowhere else, where three language groups live together peacefully with one another.

The Pustertal/Val Pusteria has an area of 2,071 sq. km (800 sq. miles). That represents precisely 28% of Alto Adige. Only 25% of the area is at an elevation of between 500 and 1,000 m above sea level. More than half is between 1,000 and 2,000 m, and the remainder is even higher than that. That means: little valley floor, lots of slopes, very much forest (green valley + good air), mountain zones, and glaciers.  The allure of this valley lies in the counterpoint with the mountains. Over here, the Dolomites; over there, the main ridge of the Alps flanked by hills and woods. Romantic sunny plateaus, surprising twists and turns in the many paths of the hiking network, tiny hamlets, picturesque castles, venerable churches and secluded chapels, and everything that a modern person could desire. The region also offers a broad array of biking paths and mountain bike trails.
