The Ridnaun Valley Circuit
Tappeiner Verlag
The Ridnaun valley circuit leads partly along the old ore trail and thus past evidence of the abandoned mine. The snow-covered mountain giants can be seen in the background.
From the Kulturhaus in Ridnaun (approx. 1370 m; parking possible here) on the well-signposted, not-to-be-missed and marked ore trail (signs “Obere Erzstraße”) mostly through forest slopes on a level hike into the valley to Maiern (inns) and briefly further into the valley (if the last section of the ore trail is no longer marked, take the valley road) to the former ore processing plant at the head of the valley (1417 m). There on the road bridge over the Talbach stream, on the other side again on the tracked path (partly farm access), always through the sunny meadow slopes from hamlet to hamlet out of the valley (not far from the path the little hill church of St. Lorenzen, frescoes and Gothic marble portal at the Pfitscherhof farm) to the fork in the path next to the Talbach stream, here over the bridge, across on the little road and briefly up to the church of Ridnaun and back to the starting point.
