Via ferrata Roda de Vaèl
Via Ferrata
· Rosengarten Group
Well marked and secured via ferrata. Nice crossing of the Rotwand. The climb over the northern ridge of the Rotwand, in the south of the Rosengarten massif, is a very homogeneous and usually not very steep ridge climbing route. Technically less demanding via ferrata, beautiful scenery, scenically impressive ascent and descent.

From the Paulina hut we walk along the Hirzel path n. 552 until we reach a parting of the way here we turn right on the path 551 to the Vajolon Pass. Shortly below the pass is the first hurdle: a ladder. From the Vajolon Pass (2560 m), the climb runs on moderately steep rocky terrain, secured by steel cables, towards the summit of the Rotwand. Once you reach the summit of the Rotwand (2806 m), you can either take the same path back again or descend the meadow ridge, where you will find a short steep step to the ridge between Rotwand and Masarékamm. You can end the trail here and descend the saddle, from here you need another 30 minutes to get to the Rotwand hut and over path 549 you get back to the chairlift at the Paolina hut in 50 minutes.
