Mysterious
The meaning of these mysterious cup-marks is still unsolved. These hemispherical depressions were chiseled or engraved into the stone surfaces by people without any recognizable intention.

The Cup-marks trail leads from the Pairdorf following the sign No. 11 in direction of Bressanone. At the turnoff take the left and follow the sign No. 20A up to Pinzagen. From there along the trail "Keschtnweg" back to Pairdorf.  These stone surfaces feature bowl-like depressions which are, in part, connected by grooved lines. Similar patterns are frequently found on other stone surfaces. One can only speculate about the original purpose and meaning of these figures. Are they perhaps constellations of stars? Or road maps, in which settlements or important locations are marked? Thus, the grooved line might represent the segment of a path which led to this place back then.
