Circular trail around the Neves reservoir
An easy hike through unique scenery
From the first information board (overview) directly at the dam wall on the orographically left shore of the lake, head into the valley to the north end of the Neves reservoir and there cross over to the other side. More or less along the lakeshore past the farm building of the Gemeindealm to the southern end of the lake. Return to the starting point via the impressive concrete construction of the dam wall. This circular hike leads through an imposing, almost high alpine landscape, in which the massive concrete wall of the Neves reservoir seems to remind the hiker that man is perhaps only a tolerated guest in this world. The very first information board reports on the planning and construction of the reservoir. A total of 14 panels deal with the most diverse elements of the alpine and high alpine area. Titles such as “steadfast allies” (the tree population in this region), “Stone World Neves” (the geology of this area) or “Land of the ancient summers” (alpine farming and people) spread
