To the Stoanernen Mandln on the Tschögglberg mountain

Finally the first snowfall! We take advantage of the white splendour for a pleasant winter hike on the Salten. Our destination is the „Stoanernen Mandln“ on the Tschögglberg. According to legend, the famous „Pachlerzottl“ wreaked havoc there before she was burned as the last witch in the Sarntal valley around the middle of the 17th century. From the Leadner Alm to the „Mandln“: We start in Vöran at the Leadner Alm. Once there, the children run straight to the nearby slope to sledge down it as often as possible. Some of us, however, are drawn further afield. Through the fresh snow and the golden coloured larch forests we trudge uphill on trail no. 11 towards the Auener Joch, which we reach after about 2 hours. From a distance we can already see the highest goal of our tour – the „Stoanernen Mandln“, a myriad of little stone towers, dwellers from times gone by.
