SNOOC - Roche Rousse
Snowshoeing
· Rhône-Alpes
Snooc on the road from Saint Nizier du Moucherotte to the 1120m in a talweg facing north a forest path that goes east south-east. It’s wild, cold, a little dark but the route has some nice surprises. You arrive on Roche Rousse after 2 kms of climbing on forest road . The atmosphere is wild and quiet in gentle uphill perfect for a family stroll. The descent takes place on the north-western slope in a different atmosphere open as a lookout from the entrance to the Vercors plateau, overlooking the Furon gorges. The route ends in the small hamlet of l'Olette . Lans en Vercors is 1 km away

Leaving Lans en Vercors on the road to Saint Nizier du Moucherotte at about 2.5 kms on your right while climbing in full forest a forest path on a very cold northern slope with a little Canadian atmosphere is offered to you . A family stroll with contrasts a climb in the freshness a descent in the sun!! All the contrasts of Vercors sometimes cold and wild sometimes warm and full of humanity . The small comfort after the effort a small mulled wine in Lans at 1km ...
Author’s recommendation
Family walk with a short climb and a nice descent to the sun . To do in good weather and rather the afternoon for the colors on the downhill slope as a postcard.

Turn-by-turn directions
At the start of the route the forest path is well straight oriented east-southeast . Then the forest road climbs regularly in zig-zag to exit almost at the top 1474m of Roche Rousse . There is a magnificent viewpoint all over the plateau with Villard de Lans in the background of the painting and the Great Flycatcher it is splendid . . The descent begins with a long crossing to the south on the west flank , it’s very airy but not technically difficult, in snooc as for the sled it’s simple when you sit down you fall lower!! At the end of the crossing we find a path (D) that takes us back down the plateau by crossing the hamlet of Chenevarie on foot! And yes the snooc it’s taussi that we slide it’s the 4X4 mountains better than skiing! Across the fields
