Unterlandler snowshoe hike
The famous pilgrimage site in winter dress

From the Scheidnerhof farm (1456 m) in the hamlet of Lerch above Aldein – you can park here in winter – about 50 metres further along the narrow road, then turn left onto the winter hiking trail towards the Schmiederalm (trail 2). Continue across the larch meadows on the mostly tracked trail to the crossroads where a signpost shows the winter trail to the Schmiederalm. However, we stay on trail 2-8 in the direction of Maria Wei&szligstein. After a good hour and a half we reach the place of pilgrimage at 1520 m. From Maria Weißenstein first follow trail 9 – S to the first junction. Turn left onto the wide 3-4-9 path towards Laneralm. After a good hour, path S branches off to the right (signpost „Winterweg Schönrastalm“), which leads directly back to the Schmiederalm. From there it is mostly a tracked trail across the meadows down to the junction with the trail to Maria Weißenstein and back to the car park.
