Arrive, gear up, get on a bike ... and go! Everyone knows that “first day of holidays” feeling. Many cycling enthusiasts like to get on the bike straight after the hotel check in, even after a long journey. This is the ideal route for those moments. Since the starting point in Selva Gardena, the landscape immediately inspires an exploration of the surrounding area.

The secondary roads and forest paths on which this route runs are perfect for beginners, and the short, moderate climbs under the Pra da Ri are a nice warm-up for the more expert riders. the Vallunga is part of the Puez-odle natural Park and is a cross-country skiing paradise in winter. the view on the Stevia and chedul Group is a good psychological warm-up for future tours and visits. At the entrance of the Vallunga, under the rocky face of the Ste- via, rests the residual ruins of the Wolkenstein castle, a medieval country palace, historically used to control the Passo Gardena. Stay on the road to Passo Gardena for 300 metres, take a left on the Strada Dantercepies road, and follow this to the namesake cable car valley station ➋ 1630 m.
