Distance 49.5 km
Short, hard, sweet The shorter of the two Sellaronda Hero MTB routes takes mountain bikers on challenging trails around the Sellastock mountain.
The start of the shorter Sellaronda MTB trail is in Wolkenstein (Selva Gardena) and it gets down to business from the off. The mountain bike tour takes riders to the Gardena pass up steep forest paths and back down on quick single trails to Corvara. The next ascent comes immediately away from the roads up to the Campolongo pass. After a speedy descent down to Arabba comes the long and exhausting climb to the Pordoi pass. With that accomplished, the final ascent to the Sella pass lies in store. Shorter than the previous climb, but steep and technically challenging in sections. The descent runs through the city of stones, and then down ski pistes and easier paths back to Wolkenstein, with some steep smaller climbs thrown in for good measure.
The majority of the 52km "short" Sellaronda Hero is on single trails, only a few kilometres are on roads. Though it may be the shorter version, it still demands lots of endurance and experience. A testing trail for serious riders.
