From the car park in front of the Haus des Apfels in Terlan, we drive only about 50 metres along the main road towards Bolzano and then turn left onto the Möltner Strasse. The climb is not too steep, but not too easy either, for the first 800 metres uphill. The gradient should not be underestimated and in high summer is best done in the morning, when most of the road is still in the shade. Once you reach the hillside at the so-called Spergserbichl, the route is initially a little flatter until you reach Verschneid, a fraction of Mölten. At the bar „Linde“ on the road, the Verschneider Heuweg branches off to the right. We follow the sign „Langfenn“ and after some steep and wonderful forest stumps – always on asphalt -  we reach the first alpine meadows. However, we do not turn right to the Gschnofer Stall or further up left to Mölten, but stay on the asphalt path that leads almost all the way up to the high plateau of the Salten.
