Starting from Toblach/Dobbiaco you cycle to Wahlen/Valle San Silvestro, where the rather steep, but quite short ascent on asphalt and forest roads to the hamlet Frondeigen begins. During the climb you can enjoy a splendid view over Toblach and the Höhlenstein valley. Once arrived at the highest point, you can follow a gravel road down into the Gsieser valley to Oberplanken. From here you follow the flat and varied bicycle path outbound the valley to Welsberg/Monguelfo, where you meet the Pustertal-bicycle path. You follow this bicycle path to Niederdorf/Villabassa and on to Toblach. The last 5km from Niederdorf to Toblach can also be covered on an alternative route that passes the old theurapeutic baths "Bad Maistatt/Bagni di Pian di Maia" (as shown on the map).

Turn-by-turn directions

Start at Hotel Stauder in Toblach. You follow the main road towards Wahlen and then continue following the road straight ahead to Silvesteralm/Malga San Silvestro. Shortly after the restaurant "Enzianhütte" (on the left side) you turn left towards Frondeigen. In the first U-turn after the bridge you go straight ahead on the gravel road and follow it to the farms ("Stauderhöfe"). Arrived there, follow the asphalted road uphill until reaching the hamlet Stadlern. At the last farmhouse turn right on the forest road and follow it to the hamlet Frondeigen. At the intersection keep left and continue on a slight ascent to the highest point. From there you follow a gentle downhill section on a gravel road through the woods to Oberplanken. At the intersection with the bicycle path turn left and follow the bicycle path outbound the valley to Welsberg. Cross the village, then follow the bicycle path "Pustertalradweg/Pista ciclabile Val Pusteria" to Niederdorf. From there you have two possibilities to reach Toblach: you continue on the bicycle path, or you make a small detour to Bad Maistatt (slight up- and downhill sections). Arrival in Toblach.
