Destination

Reschen Alm

Turn-by-turn directions

We start in the municipality of Graun directly in Reschen at the bike path junction by the alpine dairy. First we head west along the lake until we reach the valley station of the Schöneben cable car. Here we cycle slightly uphill on the tarred road towards Rojen. After a short descent, we cycle on a gravelled military path to the Reschener Alm and enjoy the magnificent view of Lake Reschen and the Ötztal Alps. At the Reschener Alm we take a break and fortify ourselves. Then we pass old barracks and head towards the border, following the signs to Grünsee. Beautiful trails and a pushing passage await us here.

After the mountain lake, we descend on easy trails to the Kastelalpe valley station on the Reschen main road. Here we take the old path of the Via Claudia Augusta, turn left at the foot of the mountain and ride steeply up to the Bergkastelalpe on gravel roads. At the top, we continue to the right towards the south and Plamort. A beautiful trail leads us to the border and past tank traps to Plamort, where we are overwhelmed by the Ortler view and the view of the Reschen and Haidersee lakes. From here we bike back to Reschen on a military trail.
