The Passo Oclini

Distance 39.9 km
Endless myths. The Catinaccio is surrounded and engulfed by endless myths. Gnomes, giants, princesses and spells: once upon a time there was quite a lot happening up here... Amongst the protagonists of these legends is a giant who killed dragons, living at the Passo di Oclini. And certainly he had a great appreciation of beauty. The views on the Monte Regolo, Lagorai Group, the Latemar, Catinaccio and Sciliar are spectacular. he must have thought that this was a great place to live; that nobody would ruin such pristine landscape, and made it his home.
The downside: what lies high up, isn’t easy to get to. the starting point is located on the south face of the Val di Fiemme. In the summer months the climb is a sweaty one. the Passo oclini lies in between the corno Bianco and corno nero twin peaks. Many a mountain biker likely wished for the legs of a giant while pedaling on the steep forest roads and navigating the long, grueling trails.
