From a riding point of view, the loop is relatively easy for the most part. Only the so-called "Schulsteig" down to Bolzano is a challenge. In narrow hairpin bends and in sections exposed along the slope, we descend to the outskirts of the city. Here we are comfortably taken up by the Kohlerer cable car. Thanks to the cable car support, the tour is not very demanding in terms of fitness. But even though the individual ascents are never really long, the metres in altitude do add up.

From the Sparkasse bank, we first drive into the centre of Deutschnofen and then follow an asphalt road uphill. Continue on the gravelled trail no. 1 to the Wölflhof farm. A short time later we leave this and follow an asphalt path instead. We briefly rejoin trail no. 1, but then continue on gravelled paths to Toten Moos. Here we stay on the forest road in the direction of Klausalm. Behind the pasture we meet trail no. 1 again, which leads us partly as a trail, partly as a road past the Schneiderwiesen inn down to Bauernkohlern and further to Kampenn Castle. This is where the Schulsteig starts. As a mostly flowing single trail, it leads along the slope, partly exposed, over to Kohlernhof. Some parts are technically demanding and require a sophisticated cornering technique. After a short asphalt section, trail no. 9 branches off. This extremely flowing trail also has some more difficult sections. Finally, we meet an asphalt road, which we follow down to the valley station of the Kohlerer cable car. We take the cable car up and continue on asphalt paths via Bauernkohlern to Herrenkohlern. We continue on a gravel path to Toten Moos and then follow trail no. 1 to Wölflhof. From here we return to Deutschnofen on asphalt.
