If you like a challenge, dare to undertake this itinerary without using the Mendola funicular railway and you will really work up a sweat!

This itinerary starts at the station at the downhill station of the Mendola funicular railway in San Antonio above Caldaro. Initially you walk through secondary streets until Pianizza di Sopra then proceed towards Appiano and then turn into the Max Sparer Street. Continue along Gruber Street and Badlweg Street until the Pigoenerweg trail. Go up along this trail until you reach the Steineggerhof farm house from where you will proceed uphill along a forestry path until Costa del Masaccio – Matschatsch and finally travel the Mendola state road until the pass (1380 m). Proceed for the 500 trail towards south, partly along steep ramps until the Roen alpine hut. Here starts the final steep leg of the itinerary before the Roen Mountain (2116 m). Here you will be fully rewarded by a 360° view on the surrounding mountains. Carry on along a beautiful, but difficult, singletrail until the Schwarz kopf and then along a forestry trail until the Curón - Grauner Joch pass (1800 m). From here starts
