High alpine MTB tour over the Madritschjoch
The tour, which is extremely demanding in terms of riding technique and above all fitness, leads us through high alpine terrain up to the Madritschjoch at an altitude of over 3000 metres. We are rewarded with a gigantic panorama and an adventurous trail down towards the Martell Valley.

Distance 72.4 km
We manage the almost 1000 metres in altitude up to Sulden mainly on asphalt roads. But then the extremely steep gravel road up to the Schaubach hut begins. More pushing than riding, we then fight our way up the stony, no less steep slope towards the Madritsch Hut. Over the Madritschjoch, pushing or carrying is finally the order of the day. But the breathtaking panorama makes the agony of the ascent seem only half as bad. The view from the Joch of the high alpine glacier world around Ortler, Königspitze and Zufallspitze is simply overwhelming. On the technically demanding descent to the Zufallhütte, the highest concentration is once again required before we roll down through the Martell Valley into the valley in a much more relaxed manner.

The tour leads through high alpine terrain. Alpine experience, sure-footedness and a head for heights are absolutely essential here. Small snowfields must be expected even in summer.Due to the length of the tour (just under 73 km and a good 2700 metres in altitude), a very early start is unavoidable. If you are not extremely well trained, it is better to split the tour into two days and spend the night at the Schaubachhütte or already in Sulden.
