From Kohlern via "detours" to Kardaun

After a leisurely train ride from Bolzano up into the cool Kohlerer Luft (if you want to do it to yourself, you can also pedal the 950 metres up a steep road – about 1 hour), we drive along the asphalt road for a few hundred metres and then turn left onto the first forest path. It is part of the European long-distance hiking trail, marked E 5 and leads past Herrenkohlern. At times it is steep and stony, but as the kilometres go by, the trail conditions get better and better.  From Toten Moos (with a pond) we head towards Deutschnofen. We head downhill, partly on asphalt again, past the Wölflhof farm and then uphill again to Deutschnofen. Soon after entering the village, turn left into Schloss-Thurn-Straße (no. 5) and head towards St. Agatha – Birchabruck. No. 5 turns into a forest road. But we take the sharp right turn, stay on the narrow road, leave the little St. Agatha church on the left and continue leisurely downhill. Later the asphalt turns to gravel again (marked B), so that
