This loop takes us from Brixen through the village of Raas to Rodenegg Castle. On the way we pass Mühlbach and Franzensfeste before returning to our starting point in Brixen. As this tour is characterised by gentle climbs and downhill recovery phases in between, we can enjoy the South Tyrolean landscape. At Franzensfeste we pass the Franzensfester reservoir, which is used to generate electricity locally, and can take a look at Franzensfeste Fortress. This fortress was built in the middle of the 19th century under Emperor Ferdinand I and named after the client, Emperor Franz I.

Turn-by-turn directions

We start our mountain bike tour in Brixen, leave the town in a northerly direction and ride along the gravel road past the Alter Pacher inn in the direction of Raas. We follow the road and then turn right onto a gravel path. We then continue cycling until we reach Natz. Once we have cycled straight through Natz, we return to the gravel path and turn right at the junction to Viums until we reach the Viumser Kreuz cross. At this point we turn right again, stay on the path and cross the Rienz. We then continue cycling along the path in the direction of Vill, passing Rodenegg Castle. Behind Vill we turn left onto gravel path no. 7 and after a while we arrive in Mühlbach. We then follow the signs in the direction of Brixen. At the descent, we turn right onto trail no. 9 A and follow the course. We then cycle along gravel path no. 8 A to Aicha and on to the Franzensfeste reservoir. We cycle around the lake and arrive at the Franzensfeste fortress. From this point on, we again follow the signs in the direction of Brixen. We stay on this path, pass the Vahrner See lake and continue to Vahrn. We then continue cycling in the direction of Brixen and return to our starting point.
