In the footsteps of Jakob Hutter - the founder of the Hutterites

For our mountain bike tour we start in Welsberg (1087 m) on the right bank of the Gsieser Bach stream. We cycle on a shady forest road until shortly after Taisten, where we cross the stream on a wooden bridge. From here we keep to the Talblickweg, which offers what its name promises: a beautiful panorama over the valley. We cross biotopes and old hamlets, always staying below a dense forest. We cycle along the old Gsies valley road, the new one was moved to the opposite bank after the storm of 1966. At the hamlet of Oberplanken (1260 m) we cross the stream again and follow the path on the right bank for a little more than 1 km. In Preindl we have to take the busy road for about 250 metres; at the little church Maria Heimsuchung we change the bank again and stay here until St. Martin. Now the last and most demanding part begins, uphill to the Talschlusshütte (1465 m). We are rewarded on the way back with a long descent on a road that leads through St. Magdalena.
