The tour across the Alpe di Siusi is relatively easy, but benefits all the more from a magnificent panorama. On the border ridge between South Tyrol and Trentino we even find spectacular trails.

At the beginning, we reach Mont Sëuc comfortably by cable car. On partly steep gravel paths, we then head directly towards the ridge that separates South Tyrol from Trentino. Here, a spectacular trail directly along the ridge to the Plattkofel hut awaits us. We escape the hustle and bustle caused by the masses of hikers that can be found here in good weather and head downhill on gravel paths towards Monte Pana. Before reaching Selva Gardena, we once again enjoy some beautiful, flowing trails. The high plateau of the Alpe di Siusi and the trail along the ridge to the Sassopiatto Hut impress with their impressive views of numerous Dolomite peaks and the deeply cut Duron Valley.

Safety information

After prolonged rainfall, the trail crossing to the Plattkofelhütte is very slippery and unpleasant to ride. Some sections of the trail are also somewhat exposed.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the valley station of the Mont Sëuc cable car (Seiser Alm circulating cable car) we drive up to Mont Sëuc (2000 m). We descend briefly on a gravel path and then cross over in the direction of Kompatsch, but just before the village we turn off onto path no. 6 in the direction of the Laurin Hut. Shortly before we reach the hut, we leave this trail, keep towards Goldknopf and continue on trail no. 8 towards Tierser Alpl. At the border ridge to Trentino, we leave this trail and now follow trail no. 4. "Auf der Schneid", as the ridge is also called, leads us over trails and cart tracks to the Plattkofel hut (2300 m). Here we can stop for a break before heading steeply downhill on a gravel path, first towards the Zallinger Hut and later on trail no. 7 towards Monte Pana. At the junction with trail no. 30, we keep to the right and then change to trail no. 30b. We enjoy riding down to Selva via flowing trail sections. From here we take the partly asphalted, partly gravelled valley cycle path via S. Cristina back to Ortisei.
