851 - Alpe Cimbra Tour
A long and beautiful route, very technical, that from the Alpe Cimbra leads to the lower valley of the Centa and back to the Alpe along the bold and scenic Menador road. It combines the sporting aspect with the panoramic, scenic, natural, cultural and historical aspects. Dedicated to good climbers!

Distance 63.2 km
A long mountain bike tour that takes us suddenly from the Alpe reliefs to the valley floor, where it is impossible to go any lower! And then back up into the mountains. This is a feat for good climbers! From Luserna/Lusérn, crossing the Lavarone woods, we reach Carbonare and then down through the Centa valley to Caldonazzo in Alta Valsugana. From there we then ascend to the Alpe, tackling the daring Menador road, well known in Trentino, which offers spectacular views of the lakes. What do you think? In Luserna, the Agritur Galeno is an excellent reference point, for overnight stays and to enjoy the atmosphere and flavours of the cuisine Cimbrian!

Turn-by-turn directions
From the square in Luserna we reach the Malga Campo refuge. We continue uphill in the direction of Forte Lusérn, in the vicinity of which we follow the dirt road, ex-military, which leads by way of a fun descent to Malga Millegrobbe di sotto (Resort - Restaurant); from the Malga we take the SP road that leads to Passo Vézzena; From the Malga we take the SP road that leads to the Vézzena Pass; we turn right, pedalling in the direction of the pass, but we leave it after a few hundred metres and, turning left, descend the long forest road that leads to the Monte Rovere - Luserna SP road; after a few hundred metres on the tarmac road in the direction of Monte Rovere, we leave it and descend to loc. Malga Laghetto, after which we take the asphalted road which in medium ascent takes us to the SS 349; we cross it and on the opposite side we take, again in medium ascent, the long forest road which, among fir woods, leads us to the military cemetery of Slaghenaufi, from which we descend to the hamlet of Bertoldi (Lavarone); From Bertoldi we cycle in the direction of Stengheli and the hamlet of Lanzino; we continue along the path until we reach the hamlet of Casare and then, on a medium descent, the hamlet of Comando, Malga Elbele and the village of Carbonare. We cross the village and take the SS349 della Fricca: We travel along it for a long stretch in the direction of Trento, pass through the long tunnel, pass the Fricca pass, then leave the state road, descend towards the built-up area of Menegoi, cross the SS349 again and, on a dirt road, we push on to the locality of Frisanchi; A little further on we pass slightly above the Paludei Refuge and turning decisively to the left, after having searched for the N slope of Doss Alto, we descend along an easy and long forest road to the hamlet of Vattaro, from which we continue towards the locality of Campregheri, and finally arrive at Caldonazzo. Reference point is the ancient Corte dei Conti Trapp. From here, on an asphalted road, we cross the valley furrow of the Centa torrent until we take the daring Menador road which, uphill and with panoramic hairpin bends, overcoming a difference in altitude of about 800 m, brings us back to the Alpe near the crossroads of Monte Rovere. We soon leave the asphalt road and turn left onto the long forest road which, in a gradual ascent, takes us close to the former Busa Verle malga and the Austro-Hungarian fort of the same name, from which, amidst wide open spaces, we reach the Vézzena Pass via an easy asphalted descent. When we reach the pass we cross the SS349 road that leads to Asiago, take the provincial road to Luserna and, having climbed two hairpin bends, when we reach Malga Basson di Sopra we turn left and take the long, smooth dirt road that takes us southwards, quickly bringing us back to Luserna from the east.
