Wollbachspitze
One of the easiest three-thousand-metre peaks in the Ahrntal Valley.
From the church of St. Jakob im Ahrntal (1180 m) follow the signs for "Wollbachalm" and marker 5, first partly on the farm access road, partly off it through meadows up to the forest, through this on trail 5 steeply up to a forest road that crosses it and on this almost flat to the Wollbachalm (1607 m, bar); from St. Jakob just under 1:30 hrs. - From the alp follow the sign "Wollbachspitze" on the marked trail orographically left through mountain pine slopes into the valley and up to the so-called Innerhütten (dilapidated cattle sheds, 1924 m), from there continue on the marked trail first briefly into the valley, then left across the stream and continue on the marked trail over grass and steep moraine scree in a long ascent to the western edge of the frontal moraine (called Sandrain, approx. 2600 m; from Alm just under 3 hours); now, often over snow remains, into the large moraine hollow and up to the Wollbachjoch (2830 m), here turn right and over the boulder ridge with no difficulty
