Trek to the Sassopiatto - Sasplat Refuge and Peak
Ascent to the edge of the Alpe di Siusi to Sassopiatto
From the Compaccio-Kompatsch car park (1,844 m) take the bus to the village of Sautaria-Saltria, then the Florian ski lift to Williamshütte hut (2,100, with refreshments). A wide path takes us near the Rifugio Zallinger (2,937 m) and the smaller route 9 to the Rifugio Sassopiatto Plattkofelhütte (2,300 m; one hour from the ski lift). We will trudge up north-east on a marked route (along the South Tyrol - Trentino border) across the wide rocky ridge of the mountain. The steep but not difficult ascent takes us to the summit (2,958 m, 2 hours from the refuge). Return via the same route.
