The easy «three thousand» of Valles - Vals

From Rio di Pusteria the route runs along the valley of Valles - Vals, to the last car park (1,739; in summer the road is open only early in the morning and late in the afternoon). Passing the picturesque alpine village of Fane, continuing on route 17 (towards Brixner Hütte). At the intersection (take a left for Lake Selvaggio) continue northwards to the Rifugio Bressanone-Brixner Hütte (2,300 m, 1.5 hours at least). We will ascend the red-and-white marked route (towards «Wurmaul») south-east, then east, and finally north on a steep meadow to the base of the final ascent (2,730 m approx.). After a rugged section equipped with fixed ropes, we will reach the cross on the summit (3,022 m; 2 hours from the refuge). Return via the same route.
