Medium-difficulty half-day hike around the southern Catinaccio massif with impressive views of the Latemar group, as far as the Ortles and Brenta Dolomites.

The Catinaccio group is a dolomite massif in South Tyrol and Trentino. At just over 3000 m, the Kesselkogel is the highest peak, but the Rosengartenspitze, the Vajolet-Türme, the Rotwand and the Masaré ridge have also made a name for themselves. Since 2009, the Rosengarten has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name of the mountain group, and at the same time the origin of the "alpine roses", come from an old legend, according to which the dwarf king Laurin cultivated a garden full of blossoming roses in a small cirque between the Rosengartenspitze, the Laurinswand and the Vajolet Türmen. When Similde, the beautiful daughter of the King of Etsch, was to be married, all the nobles from the region were invited, except King Laurin. Under a cloak of invisibility, he nevertheless went to the feast and stole the bride. The warriors of the king of Etsch followed the dwarf into his garden and found him, although he was invisible, because the roses behind which he was hiding were moving.

“They take pictures of the mountain climbers at the top of the mountain. They don’t take pictures along the way cause who wants to remember the relentless climb, the pain and anguish of taking it to the next level – nobody takes pictures of that, nobody wants to remember. We just want to remember the view from the top, the breathtaking moment at the edge of the world. That’s what keeps us climbing and it’s worth the pain, that’s the crazy part. It’s worth anything.“ – Anonymous
