Rotstein
Tappeiner Verlag
Easy summit tour above the Wilfern Valley in the East Tyrolean Puster Valley.
From the car park along the alpine road (Mark. 322) to Huber- and further to Jakober Kaser at 2000 m. The trail leads over beautiful alpine pastures and meadows up to the Wilferner Lacke (2217 m), which lies below an old glacial moraine at the foot of the Schleitner Kofel. The path continues pleasantly over several terrain steps. At 2500 m, the debris stream from the Rotstein flows in from the left. After a few short serpentines you reach the ridge between the Rotstein in the west and the Schlaitner Kofel in the east. Follow this ridge up to the left to a small emergency shelter with a bench and summit book. The summit ridge moves southwards for the last hundred metres and then rises another five metres (pyramid of stone blocks with a rope belay) to the Rotstein cross. Descent: as ascent.
