Distance 10 km
A unique mountain summit
Easy mountain hike in Val di Vizze (Pfitschertal) Valley. The reddish colour of Creda Rossa (Rotbachlspitze) Mountain makes it a particularly distinctive and striking peak.
From Vipiteno (Sterzing), drive through Val di Vizze (Pfitschtal) Valley onto the unpaved road up the Passo di Vizze (Pfitscher Joch) Pass. Continue up to the road for 4 km and stop at the fourth bend in the road (1,806 m; large parking lot; the public street ends here). From there, either take Trail No. 4 starting right at the bend, or hike on the main street (which is closed to traffic) in a long serpentine path up to the Rifugio Passo di Vize (Pfitscher Joch Haus) mountain hut (2,275m; 1.5 to 2 hours from the starting point depending on the trail chosen). Next follow signs for Rotbachlspitze, south-east, over grassy slopes up to the ridge and continue on a steep hike over rocks and boulders up to the summit (2,895m; from Passo di Vizze 1.5 to 2 hours).
Descent: Return using the same trail; about 2 hours.
