Excursion that leads from the open spaces of the Lavazè plateau to the panoramic peak of the Pala di Santa. The return takes place towards Passo Pampeago, then passing on the north side of the mountain and ends in a ring once you reach Passo Lavazè.

The beauty of this itinerary are the very different scenarios: the airy plateau of Lavazè, the fir and pine forest and then the wide ridge after the edge of the wood. You reach the cross on the top of the mountain passing through volcanic rocks and steep pastures where you will occasionally find a flock of sheep. After the descent on the ski slopes to Passo Pampeago, we return to the forest road and path marked by the Vaia storm (October 2018).

Author’s recommendation

Fill your eyes with the immensity of the panorama that can be enjoyed from the top: the Lagorai chain, the Latemar and part of the Catinaccio, the Ortles Cevedale group and the Brenta Dolomites. By focusing on the closest details, you will discover the villages near the shrine of Pietralba.

From Passo Lavazè, near the skiing school, take the unsurfaced road and then trail No. 574. At the beginning the path is an easy route and then it climbs steeply to the summit of Pala di Santa.

From here the trail descends at first gently over the vast plateau along a stretch of a cart-track and then more steeply to Passo Pampeago.

From Passo Pampeago take on the left trail No. 9 that leads back to Passo Lavazè.
