At the foot of Altissima (Hochwilde) and Cima Bianca Grande (Hochweisse) Mountains
Amidst the soaring, majestic peaks of the Alpi Venoste (Ötztaler Alpen) mountains

Follow the main street through Val Passiria (Passeiertal) Valley until the village of Plan (Pfelders) at 1,622 metres, where you can park the car. Start either on the wide flat path to the right (passing the houses in the hamlet of Zeppichl) or to the left on the other side of the river, passing the Maso Lazins (Lazinserhof) Farm (1,772 m; restaurant) and the Malga Lazins (Lazinseralm) alpine pasture (1,858 m, refreshments; about one hour). Turn right on Trail Trail No. 8 and climb up the steep rocky ridge serpentine to the Rifugio Petrarca all’ Altissima (Stettiner Hütte) mountain hut (2,875 m, open in summer; 4 hours). Descent: Return using the same trail.
