From the tourist car park at St.Helena (1550 m) on the wide forest path 9 A almost level in 3⁄4 hrs. into the Mariolbergalm (also known as Falkomai-Kuhalm; 1661 m, bar) and to the nearby trail 3, on this in the Kirchbachtal valley to the fork, staying on the valley trail (now 3 A) further along the stream to the edge of the forest and on the grassy slope moderately steep up to the Innere Falkomaialm (2051 m, bar; from the starting point just under 21⁄2 hrs.); now follow marker 8 over grassy ground and stony mountain terrain up to a fork in the path, here turn left, on trail 8B with increasing steepness up to a depression in the north ridge of the Peilstein and left without any problems over the ridge to the summit of the Peilstein (2542 m; from Innere Falkomaialm a good 1 1⁄2 hours, from the starting point 3 1⁄2 – 4 hours). The descent is safest via the ascent trail (approx. 21⁄2 hrs.); for more experienced hikers, the descent via the east ridge (marked 7, later 8) is also
