Cima di Terento (Eidechsspitze) Peak
Challenging hike past Englalm and Kompfoßalm to Cima di Terento (Eidechsspitz) Peak.
Route to Eidechsspitz Peak: from Terento (Terenten) at 1,210 m; approach is from Niedervintl in Val Pusteria (Pustertal) Valley. Follow Trail No. 2 up to the two upper farms (about 1,450 m; also reachable by car). Then, it’s moderately steep up through the forest to Englalm alpine pasture (1,826 m; simple restaurant; 2 hours from Taranto). Continue on Trail No. 22 across barren, steep terrain up to the deserted Kompfoßalm hut (2,181 m). Staying on Trail No. 22, go further up the east ridge of Eidechsspitz Peak, crossing it easily to the summit cross (2,738 m; 2.5 hours from Englalm). Descent: same as ascent.
