Bamberger Hut and Piz Boè
Great tour from Colfosco through the famous Valle di Mezzo.
From the western edge of the village of Colfosco (1675 m, Hotel Lujanta, cable car valley station), follow the signs for Val Mesdì on a wide path that crosses the valley meadows;follow the signpost 651 on the footpath through the steep, rock-enclosed Mittagstal valley, first through the schüThe trail continues straight on over scree and boulders and in the upper part often snow in a long and strenuous climb up to the Boè- or Bamberger Hütte (2871 m, summer management; from the starting point 3:30 – 4 hrs.). From there on trail 638 – via scree and rocks (one spot secured with ropes) up eastwards to the north ridge of Piz Boè and – via it easily to the summit (3152 m, from the hut just under 1 hour; here the Capanna Fassa with summer catering). Descent: safest via the ascent route (3 hrs).
