4 Peaks Alta Badia is the new Alta Badia experience for the expert mountaineer looking for new challenges.

The goal is to conquer the four Dolomites summits Sas dla Crusc/Santa Croce (2.907 m), Piza dales Diesc/Cima Dieci (3.026 m), Lavarela (3.055 m) and Conturines (3.064 m). Anyone who conquers all four summits in one day will be entitled "Alta Badia Mountaineer" and will have his place in the 4 Peaks Alta Badia Hall of Fame. Those who manage to conquer the four summits over several days, still a great result, will belong to the "Alta Badia Finisher".

Turn-by-turn directions

From the village of Badia (1.324 m) take the La Crusc 1 chair lift and the La Crusc 2 cable car up to the La Crusc/Santa Croce hospice at the foot of the imposing Sas dla Crusc/Santa Croce massif. From the little church at La Crusc/Santa Croce (2.045 m) take path no. 7 in the direction of Ju dla Crusc pass (2.612 m) where path no. 7B leads to the summit of Sas dla Crusc/Santa Croce (2.907 m). A short via ferrata takes you to the Piza dales Diesc/Cima Dieci (3.026 m). The descent to the Ju dla Crusc fork is again on path no. 7B.

From the Ju dla Crusc fork, there are two routes to reach the Lavarela and Conturines peaks: a shorter but more demanding and exposed route and a longer, but easier and less exposed route.

Shorter, more exposed route

From the junction of Ju dla Crusc, take path no. 7 and continue on trail no. 12 to the Medesc fork (2533m) and passing the fork, you will reach the Lavarela (3.055 m) summit. The path between the Medesc fork and the Lavarela peak is very exposed and only recommended for experienced climbers. The Conturines peak, the last peak of the tour and with its 3.064 m the highest of the four, can be accessed via path no. 12B and a via ferrata. The return to the valley is relatively easy. Take path no. 12B, cross the Fanes meadows and continue on path no. 11 to Col de Locia and Capanna Alpina (1.720 m). In the neighbourhood Capanna Alpina you have the possibility to take a taxi and a little further on, in Sciaré, there is a bus stop. From here several times a day buses leave for San Cassiano and the rest of Alta Badia.

Less exposed, but longer route

From the junction of Ju dla Crusc you continue on paths no. 7 and no. 12 in the direction of the Fanes pasture and passing by the mountain huts Lavarella and Fanes (2.050 m) continue on path no. 11. Walk beside the Lech de Limo lake and crossing the pasture you will reach the small fork Ju dal'Ega (2.157 m). From here, take trail no. 12B up to the two peaks Lavarela (3.034 m) and Conturines (3.064 m). Attention: The last section to the Conturines summit is a via ferrata. The return is on the same way down to the Fanes pasture where path no. 11 leads to the Col de Locia (2.069 m) and finally to the neighbourhood of Capanna Alpina (1.720 m). In Capanna Alpina you will find a taxi service and just a few minutes of walk from here, at Sciaré, there is a bus stop.
