Important panoramic peak of the Campa-range which, together with the Monte Fibbion, forms the most important mountain range of this region. The ascent is easy and well-marked up to the top, although also long and exhausting. It is recommended to combine this tour with the Croz del Re at the opposite site.
Along the path n. 301 you can climb on a non-pleasant and rocky path steeply into the dense forest while crossing the road again and again. At the hairpin curve on 1450 m you turn right onto the path that leads to the alp Spora Alm. Behind the rock formation of the Sega Grande mountain you eventually reach the chilly clearing called Fontana Fredda (1630 m) and the mountain pass 301/302.
You continue on the paths 302 and 338 to the north and into the wild valley Cavai, walking uphill to the Sella del Montoz (2327 m). You turn left (west) to follow the red signs which, via some ups and downs, will lead you to the base of a steep grassy canal that you climb again.
After some rocky parts you will get to touch the crest, connected with the foothills to the north-east of the peak itself. Following the crest you will eventually reach the gravel near the foot of the peak you want to climb. This is where you meet the peak of the Cima di Santa Maria, a lonely and remote mountain that
