On the road to Malga Campo, follow the signs for Lago di Varasci (white and red markings). Follow a beautiful path, sometimes quite steep, up through the dense woods until you cross a paved mule track that leads to the nearby Malga Campostril (1830 m). This splendid place is located in a clearing on the eastern slopes of Monte Spadalone (beautiful view of the Brenta). You hike along several hairpin bends between barns to the not too distant Lago di Varasca (1912 m), a magnificent mountain lake nestled between the surrounding peaks. The northern shore of the lake is skirted and then a rise is climbed that leads to a short valley full of scents at the foot of the Bocchetta dell’Acqua Fredda. In a leisurely climb, you reach the aforementioned saddle (2184 m), from which the view opens up towards the northwest to the glaciated eastern side of Care Alto, as well as to the Corno di Cavento and the Crozzon di Lares.
