High mountain trails
Along the Fundres high route. An epic journey through wild, untamed nature and idillic landscapes starting from Vipiteno in the Alta Valle Isarco and leading to Brunico in the Val Pusteria.

The Fundres high route is the equivalent of the Merano high route on the western part of Alto Adige. The trek extends over 70 km and with an ascent of 5,600 metres starting from the Val di Vizze and reaching the Valle Aurina di Tures. This hike over the Fundres mountains offers breathtaking views of the Zillertaler Alps and Dolomites. The Fundres high route walking time is six days and the average altitude is 2000 metres. The trek can be divided into daily hikes. A couple of days to acclimatise to higher altitudes are recommended for this trek, particularly if you are not an experienced hiker. Some sections of this trek require sure-footedness, a good head for heights, strong orienteering skills, and experience of mountain hiking. Stage 1 - From Vipiteno to the Simile alpine hut 6:00 hours Stage 2 - From the Simile alpine hut to the Rifugio Bressanone 3:00 hours Stage 3 - From the Rifugio Bressanone to the Walter-Benninger Bivouac 5:30 hours Stage 4 - From the Benninger
