Southern Black Forest Cycle Route
…past the mountains and moors of the Upper Black Forest, the world-famous Titisee and the impressive Wutach Gorge. Rustic Black Forest inns or a ride on the famous Sauschwänzle railway invite you to linger. The journey continues along the High Rhine: medieval towns on the German and Swiss banks of the Rhine are waiting to be explored. The city of Basel offers a rich cultural history, famous museums and great city flair. Then a detour to the French town of Huningue on the edge of the oldest nature reserve in Alsace, the „ Petite Camargue “.
Back in Germany, the Southern Black Forest Cycle Route crosses the idyllic Markgrandland region with its vineyards and spas, until finally the Mediterranean flair of Freiburg's old town welcomes you for a coffee break. Following the course of the Dreisam river, the cycle path continues to Kirchzarten station, from where the train takes you through the wild and romantic Höllental valley up to the starting point of the tour in Hinterzarten.
