Up through forest and meadows
Beautiful alpine village and steep forest peak

From the church of St. Jakob im Ahrntal (1180 m) always follow the signs for Wollbachalm and trail no. 5, first partly on the road, partly off it through meadows up to the forest, then through this on trail no. 5 steeply up to a wide forest path that crosses it and on which you turn left, level and slightly descending to the Wollbachalm (1607 m, inn; from St. Jakob just under 1:30 hrs). Continue to the Kellerkopf: From the Almschenke on trail 5A, first crossing steep forest tracks westwards for a while until the trail divides, here continue right and always on trail 5A with increasing gradient up through the forest to below the summit wall, left up very steep rocky steps and finally, still in the forest, briefly and easily up to the summit cross (2127 m; from Alm 1:30 hrs). Descent: via the described ascent route (2 hours in total).
