This easy hike takes us along the northern slopes of the South Tyrolean apple paradise Vinschgau from Reinhold Messner's residence to the tranquil Kastelbell Castle and promises not only scenic but also cultural highlights. It begins at Juval Castle, the residence of mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner. Messner's unique art collection can be visited daily in spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November). The tour continues on an easy path past the irrigation channels of the Val Venosta fruit growers called "Waale". The tour ends at Castelbello Castle, which is well worth seeing and can also be visited on guided tours.

From Juval Castle, the Tschars Waalweg trail (marking no. 3) leads 200 m above the Vinschgau valley floor towards Kastelbell. On the way we pass a snack station. The hike ends with the section towards Kasten Castle and finally Kastelbell Castle in the village centre of Kastelbell. We then return to the starting point with the Vinschger cable car.

Train line "Vinschger Bahn" from Merano, Staben station (not all trains stop there!). From Staben station it is about an hour's walk or about 15 minutes to the Juval car park, where the shuttle bus starts.Getting there
From Merano in the direction of Reschenpass via the SS38 state road to the free Juval car park. Continue to the Juval Castle Inn by shuttle bus for a fee (end of March to end of June, September to beginning of November). Regular daily trips every half hour from 09:40 except Wednesdays.
