View and culture along the Algunder Waalweg

On the Algunder Waalweg and Ochsentodweg to the historic St. Peter's Church with a return via the Kreuzweg and Algunder Waalweg
.On the Algunder Waalweg you can hike leisurely. It is part of the 80 km long Merano Waalrunde, in which 11 such paths are combined. The water in the mostly open canals was and is used to irrigate the fields. On the Ochsentodweg, as the name already tells us, a (short) steep ascent awaits us. The deep ruts in the stones of the paved path speak a clear language. Soon, however, the route becomes more leisurely again, partly on a wide asphalt road, until we reach the little church of St. Peter. Like most St. Peter's churches, it is very old and a true jewel of sacred art. Below the church is another treat for art lovers: a Stations of the Cross whose stations are decorated with paintings by the artist Peter Fellin. The view of Tyrol Castle, Brunnenburg Castle and Thurnstein Castle is also a highlight of the St. Peter area. We return to the starting point along the swiftly flowing waters of the Algunder Waal. The whole loop scores with a great view and several places to stop for
