Round into the valley
An appealing hike from Merano into the Spronsertal valley and back via Dorf Tirol.

From the post office bridge in Merano, leave the town in a northerly direction via the winter promenade and the Lazagsteig trail (marked 10) and continue on trail no. 22. After crossing the Passer river, take trail no. 1 to Riffian. From here take trail no. 3A in a westerly direction and at the road above Kuens take a sharp right onto trail no. 21A and continue steeply uphill. Shortly before Gfeis, turn left onto trail no. 24 and walk gently up and down to the Longfallhof farm. Cross the Spronsertalbach stream and take the forest road (marked 6) down to Auer Castle. Follow the apple path (no. 9) through Dorf Tirol and down to Meran on the panorama path (marker 6).
