Between Galsaun and the Schnals Valley
Waalwege under Juval Castle

From Tschars (627 m) follow the M. 1A on a farm access road up to the branching off path 3 and on this in a longer, mostly moderately steep forest ascent up to the Tschars Schnalswaal (approx. 760 m, from Tschars 0:45 hrs.) and then on the consistently good and safe path next to the Wasserwaal (always M. 3) on a level hike eastwards to the Sonnenhof (830 m, snack station) below Juval Castle; from Tschars approx. 1:30 hrs. From there, various detours are possible: on the Waalweg path for about 10 minutes to the Waalerhütte hut with the Waalhammer, or through a short rock tunnel over to the Schlosswirt (Oberortlhof) or on path 1 in about 15 minutes up to Juval Castle (guided tours in spring and autumn, nearby refreshment facilities; all well signposted; enquire at the tourist office about the opening hours of the castle). Then back to Sonnenhof, on the cobbled path marked No. 1 leading to Staben down to the Schnalswaal stream crossing Staben, on its unmarked but easily accessible
